He wasn’t long in coming. Börge is surely one of the most experienced expedition professionals alive, not only for solo enterprises.
In the spring of 2001, Börge Ousland was the first to cross the Arctic Ocean solo.

In close cooperation with Börge, we developed a sledge according to his design sketches. Due to unforeseeable circumstances, the original sledge had to be changed after only 2 days. Börge did not let himself be influenced by this blow, he continued the expedition and reached the Canadian mainland at the end of May..
