This is the tender to the Mini Arctic Challenge 160 (MAC160)
Raw state of the art design, ultra light weight that’s all it is.
This pulk is basically confectioned to support the MAC 160 in the first
part of the expedition, when the total payload is still very heavy and has a
lot of volume. Too much for only the MAC 160 and too much for the heavy screw
ice barriers. Polar legend Børge Ousland tested it, and no doubt, the results show that is
significantly lighter to drag the payload through screw ice barriers distributed on 2 pulks
rather than only one very large and heavy pulk. Ever since, this 2 pulk system became the standard for successful expeditions on the Arctic Ocean.
The heavier one pulk would be, the more sense it makes to distribute the load on two pulks.
So in the beginning of an expedition, the payload is highest.
After a few weeks the volume and payload has decreased that it can be more efficient
to only continue with one pulk further on.
The expedition gets lighter also with the lost weight of this extra pulk.
From this point on the expedition will move even faster.
A fine calculation will enable teams or solo expeditions to get faster to the goal.
As well as in the MAC160, concave side-walls with the multiaxial layup, strengthens the body at lowest weight balance The high-tech resin system used requires post-cure tempering. The well known (ACAPULKA typical) round and high-drawn front section provides both strength and tremendous gliding abilities through tough screw ice ridges.
The new bottom design is as in the MAC 160.Made for minimum friction.
This is a revolutionary new design, proven on expeditions since 2005.
In 2014 the bottom got an update. Its now fitted with our new special high modular conductive surface and the new runner system STSR .
The pulk has like all other extreme series pulks a cover made of ultra light ripstop nylon.
Tie down straps for load securing that are riveted to the body.
As standard this pulks is calculated with the lowest weight. Please contact us to discuss whether there should be build in reinforcements. It may also be the case that we can build this pulk even lighter! So talk to us!
